Former Arsenal star Ray Parlour believes his old club may need to sign a replacement to fill in for the injured Santi Cazorla in the January transfer window.
The Gunners look set to be without their Spanish playmaker for at least two or three months after he sustained an Achilles problem in November.
Arsenal’s form has dipped of late, as it did when they missed him for much of the second half of last season, which is why Parlour has stressed how important he is to Arsene Wenger’s side.
Few other midfielders in the Arsenal squad can offer what Cazorla does, and when asked where his old club need to strengthen this winter, that was the area Parlour pointed to.
‘You look at that Cazorla sort of player in midfield. You might say (Jack) Wilshere’s out on loan at Bournemouth and Aaron Ramsey who’s injured at the moment,’ he told Squawka.
‘They do miss him, that calming factor in the midfield area. He can see a pass, very good on the ball, influential going forward.’
